Mammography

Mammograms are the imaging tests used to examine breast tissue. They are also one of the best procedures we have of detecting the early signs of breast cancer.

It is recommended that women receive their first mammogram beginning at age 40 and continue with an annual mammogram until age 75 or as recommended by your individual provider. Visit our Breast Center page for more information about mammograms and breast cancer screening.

What is a 3D Mammogram?

Unlike standard digital mammograms, 3D mammograms can create 3D images of the breast tissue, allowing the radiologist to examine the images from different angles. It is recommended that women with dense breast tissue receive a 3D mammogram. It is harder to find abnormalities in dense breast tissue, but 3D mammograms have proven to be more effective and accurate in these situations.
