Angela Chivers, BS, IBCLC, CCE

Angela Chivers holds a Bachelor of Science from UW-Superior. She graduated with an individualized major in Social Work, Child Development, and Health Education. She then completed her health and science credits in the lactation field. Angela is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, she is certified as a Childbirth Educator through the International Childbirth Educator Association, a Certified H.U.G. Your Baby Instructor, a Healthcare Provider Level CPR and First Aid Instructor with American Heart Association and American Red Cross. Additionally, she is the Chairman of the Polk County Breastfeeding Coalition and the mother of six children. Angela worked for the Polk County Health Department for 9 years, and has been working for SCRMC for 10 years. Her passion is equipping families with the education they need so they can relax and fall in love with their new baby.

Amanda Strom, RN, IBCLC, CCE

Amanda Strom holds a Bachelor’s of Science Nursing degree from Regis University in Denver, CO and a Bachelor’s of Science in Exercise and Sport Science from UW-Lacrosse. In the fall of 2017, she completed her lactation coursework and is now an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. Amanda is an NRP instructor and holds certifications in STABLE and ACLS. Additionally, Amanda assists in teaching various classes offered through The Birth Place and is the Chairman of the Polk County Breastfeeding Coalition. Amanda has been working as a nurse at SCRMC since the summer of 2010. In addition to her roles at SCRMC, she stays busy raising her three young children and assisting in operating a family business. Amanda's favorite part of her job includes the moment parents first meet their newest family member and assisting the new family unit through their first days together.

In addition, all of the OB nursing staff are trained to assist breastfeeding mothers.

  • Telephone Consultation Contact us at (715) 483-0431 to speak with a Lactation Consultant.
  • Outpatient Office Consultation After discharge, an appointment can be made with the Lactation Consultant for follow-up care.
  • Inpatient Consultation The Lactation Consultant is available to assist new moms in hospital.

Support Groups

Walk-In Lactation Support

Each Thursday afternoon an IBCLC will be at The Birth Place to meet with anyone who needs breastfeeding support. This time is available for pregnant or breastfeeding women and their families. Ask questions, receive help, weigh your baby, etc.

Thursdays from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM. This service is free and no registration is required. Located in The Birth Place Lounge.

The Latch After Hours

A weekly group where moms and babies can connect, refresh and chat about all things breastfeeding. This group is facilitated by a Certified Lactation Consultant. It is for pregnant women and moms with babies up to 1 year old.

The group meets Mondays from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Starting Memorial Day and running through October 1 (weather permitting), this group meets at the Lions Park on Highway 87 in St. Croix Falls. The rest of the year it will be located at the hospital. Please check at the front desk at the hospital entrance for the meeting location. Participation is free and no registration is required.
