Lactation Services

Nursing Mothers' Support Group
The Birth Place at St. Croix Regional Medical Center is committed to supporting breastfeeding mothers in their decision to breastfeed. Our core team of experienced labor, delivery and postpartum nurses are all Certified Breastfeeding Counselors who are trained to help breastfeeding get off to a good start. Our obstetrics unit has recently implemented new policies and procedures that will further support the initiation of breastfeeding in the hospital setting.

SCRMC also has an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) on staff. An IBCLC is a health care professional who specializes in the clinical management of breastfeeding. Our IBCLC can do inpatient and outpatient consults and is available by phone and e-mail to all of our patients when they leave the hospital.

Kind Words from Patients

The support group really allowed me to hang in there. Now I can't imagine not being able to breast feed. It has made all the difference in the world for me and my baby. Thank you so much!     Brenda T.

I am so glad I went to the breastfeeding group while I was still pregnant. I was able to better see myself as a nursing mom and could then get help when I needed it. Just being able to ask questions and connect with people really helped me succeed.   Michelle D.

Looking back, I must say the mothers' group was the highlight of my month. What great friendship and support! Everyone should know about this.
