About SCRMC: Foundation

Foundation Mission

The St. Croix Valley Health Care Foundation is a non-profit organization whose mission is to conduct charitable, educational, scientific, and fundraising activities to promote quality health care in the St. Croix Valley.  Their work focuses on health care, community service, and education.

Through its financial gifts, the SCVHC Foundation stands as a staunch supporter of our communities' health care organizations.  Funds are invested prudently, ensuring that income earned from them will be used to further the mission of the Foundation.  Current income also funds purchases of health care equipment for the benefit of patients at St. Croix Regional Medical Center.

Scholarship Awards

For many years, the Foundation has provided scholarship assistance to individuals from our communities who are entering or furthering their education in a health care field.  Each year, a percentage of Foundation funds are earmarked to the Scholarship Program.  Many past scholarship recipients now are putting their education and experience to work in our community. This past year,  ten individuals received a total of $4000 in scholarship awards.

Major Fundraising Events

SCRMC Summer Golf Classic

Each June for the past 12 years, the RiverBank Insurance Center (now Central Insurance) lead by John Gauper, has sponsored a golf tournament at the Frederic Golf Course with the proceeds benefitting patient care at St. Croix Regional Medical Center usually by the purchase of equipment or furnishings.

SCRMC Golf Classic 12th Annual Results Best Ever

Central Insurance Center’s John Gauper presented proceeds from the twelfth Annual Golf Classic—a check for $14,879 to St. Croix Valley HealthCare Foundation President, Elvira Schmidt, following the event.  “The 2012 Golf Classic yielded exciting results, bringing a twelve year grand total to $167,380—a tremendous amount,” said Gauper.  “Registrations and sponsorships confirm that this tournament is a significant area event. We’re pleased to have been the sponsor of the Golf Classic  for the past years,” he continued.

Schmidt expressed her sincere appreciation to Gauper and his staff for their dedicated efforts to the event.  “Without the generous support of Voyageur Radiology, our corporate and hole sponsors and team players who contributed to this fundraiser,” noted Sandy Williams, SCRMC Marketing Director, “the long term success we’ve achieved simply wouldn’t be possible.”

Everyone appeared to enjoy the sunny day and especially the excellent dinner catered by Beth LeMieux.  Williams went on to point out that the event’s real winners are “all the people in our community who use the Medical Center or any of its five convenient community clinics.   The funds raised will help purchase a new esophageal manometer used in the assessment of GERD, reflux disease. This is a significant test that will soon be performed at SCRMC as we continue to provide enhanced services to the region.

Tournament events include numerous course games and hole-in-one contests to win cars, courtesy of Larsen Auto and Johnson Motors. The Foundation Fore won the nine hole tournament and Hauge Dental men’s team won the 18 hole event. Check back for information on the upcoming 2013 Golf Classic on June 14!

Fall Gala Fundraising Dinner

A champagne reception.  Great food.  Excellent company.  Exciting raffles and auction.  All this and more have brought together supporters of the Foundation's work each September for the past 17 years at the Trollhaugen Conference Center.  Individuals and businesses generously donate all items sold through the auctions and raffles, and even a trip to somewhere exciting such as New Orleans, or San Diego or Savannah plus a travel voucher.

Health Care Advocate Award

Another very special annual event takes place at the Gala Dinner--naming the winner of the foundation's Annual Health Care Advocate Award. Each year the Foundation Board chooses an individual from our community whom they believe has made a significant contribution to the health care of the community. The award recognizes the efforts of an individual who promotes the ideals of health care and has contributed countless hours to further the mission of health care in the region.  Cindy Lundmark, Vice President of Clinic and Ancillary Services of SCRMC received the award for 2012. "For forty years, Cindy has been an amazing emloyee and true leader envisioning ways to improve patient care," said her presenter, Dr. Bill Beyer.  Cindy recently retired and was honored by the medical center for her years of service.
