News: SCRMC Welcomes Orthopaedic Surgeon, Dr. Glenn Ciegler, MD, PhD.

In addition to providing general orthopaedic care, Dr. Ciegler has a special interest in joint replacements, arthroscopy, and injuries relating to outdoor sports activities. An outdoor enthusiast in his own right, Dr. Ciegler participates in climbing, hiking, cross country skiing, kayaking, cooking, and race-car driving.

Dr. Ciegler is adding to SCRMC’s orthopaedic coverage and will hold clinics and surgery on Thursdays beginning March 1.  He is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon holding a subspecialty certification in sports medicine.  Dr. Ciegler is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and has been a member of the St. Croix Orthopaedics medical staff since 1994. He graduated from the University of Illinois, Champaign/Urbana, College of Medicine, and subsequently undertook his internship and residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Minnesota Hospitals and Clinics, Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Prior to medical school, Dr. Ciegler conducted eight years of basic research and presented his Masters and Doctoral thesis at the University of Illinois in the field of biomaterials, specifically related to new materials for artificial bone. He has also lectured on the topic, and his research results have been published in several journals. Dr. Ciegler continues to attend national and international orthopaedic and wilderness medical courses.

Gabrick completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Minnesota in 2003. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physiology and Biology. In 2006, she began the Physician Assistant Program at Des Moines University in Des Moines, Iowa, graduating in May of 2008. She joined St. Croix Orthopaedics in the summer of 2008.

Gabrick is board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). She is member of both the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) and the Minnesota Academy of Physician Assistants (MAPA). In her spare time, Gabrick enjoys running, cooking, and outdoor activities.
