“The advances in medical laboratory testing in just the past few years are truly remarkable,” said Mary Smith, Laboratory Director. Everyday physicians and other health care providers depend on laboratory professionals to perform tests and report results that help provide a complete picture of a patient’s health.
“Using the latest biomedical equipment and procedures, lab staff can detect the presence of cancer, identify infectious bacteria, and measure analytes such as glucose, cholesterol, and drug levels,” Smith explains. More than 10 billion laboratory tests are performed in the US each year. Over 1 million tests are performed annually at the SCRMC labs by a group of knowledgeable, dedicated laboratory professionals.
