In the publication, according to lead author Cameron Wolfe, “Our observations are important because they reinforce a growing body of evidence that the influenza vaccine provides protection from severe illness requiring hospitalizations. The public health implications are important, because not only could a potentially deadly infection be avoided with a $30 ($25 SCRMC clinics) shot, but costly hospitalizations could also be reduced.”
Vaccines are encouraged for all ages, 6 months and older, especially people who have certain medical conditions including asthma, diabetes and chronic lung disease, pregnant women and people 65 years of age and older.
Also household contacts and caregivers of those with the above mentioned medical conditions should be vaccinated. Vaccine appointments are available during regular clinic hours at all community clinics and help speed up your visit. A nurse appointment is helpful, but any of our locations will assist you if a more convenient time is needed.
Call 1-800-828-3627 for a vaccine appointment at any of our locations or stop by. Frederic, Ingalls/Webster, St. Croix Falls, Unity/Balsam Lake plus our new location in Lindstrom, MN --all Community Clinics will assist you as needed.
The cost for the seasonal flu vaccine is $25 if paid date of service and not billed to insurance. Remember to wear a sleeveless top or something with a loose sleeve that can be pushed up to the shoulder.
